What Is the Pink Palace in Porto/Gaia?
Pink Palace Porto is one of the six themed museums located in the WOW Cultural District in Vila Nova de Gaia.
WOW District, a space designed as a melting pot of Portuguese culture and heritage, has emerged as one of Porto’s top tourist draws. The District overlooks the River Douro and is a collection of 6 museums, 12 restaurants and bars, stores, an exhibition gallery, and workshops.
Some of the other museums in this cultural district are Porto Region across the Ages, The Wine Experience, The Chocolate Story, Planet Cork, and The Art of Drinking.
While other museums in the area dive deep into history, art, and winemaking, the Pink Palace takes a more playful route: it’s an interactive journey dedicated entirely to rosé wine and the joy that surrounds it.
Rather than a traditional museum with glass cases and lengthy plaques, the Pink Palace is designed to be experienced.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by whimsical, colorful rooms filled with photo-worthy installations, light-hearted exhibits, and a curated tasting experience that takes you through five rosé wine samples from Portugal and beyond.
It’s a museum where sipping and snapping go hand in hand. Each space is designed to both teach you a little something about rosé and give you a chance to loosen up and have fun while doing it.
You’ll find yourself floating in a pink ball pit, lounging in a rosé bathtub, striking a pose on a vintage pink car, and more. Check out all of our pictures below….
Our visit to the Pink Palace was filled with great fun and lots of timeless photographs and videos. We booked the Combo Ticket for entry to WOW Cultural District Museums and could gain access to the Pink Palace along with the 5 other museums. We also received a 10% discount at restaurants and shops in the district.
What to Expect at the WOW Pink Palace Oporto
Visiting the Pink Palace is like stepping into a rosé-themed dream — every room is filled with vibrant backdrops, interactive installations, and, of course, plenty of wine tastings. It’s a self-guided experience, and you can move through at your own pace, with friendly guides stationed throughout to answer questions and pour tastings.
Once you arrive at the entrance (welcome desk), you will be provided with a wine glass (for your tastings) and a wristband with 5 buttons, which you will exchange for tastings. If you are traveling with luggage/bags, you can keep them in a locker for free.
Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll find inside:
Five Rosé Wine Tastings
As mentioned earlier, you will get to enjoy five rosé tastings, spaced throughout your journey. Each stop introduces you to a different style of rosé, from light and floral to more full-bodied varieties.
The wines come from Portugal and beyond (France), and you’re given a small but generous pour at each tasting point. You can take your time sipping and enjoying each glass before moving to the next room. (We loved the Mateus and Croft Pink Rosé Port, the best)
Themed Rooms & Photo Ops
Pink Palace encompasses 11 “pink atmosphere” themed rooms, reminding guests of the pink hue of refreshing and fruity Rosé. Move from one room to another and create unforgettable memories in harmoniously decorated pink rooms complete with elements that perfectly blend in to deliver an exceptional experience.
Dive into a pool of pink balls and get soaked in oodles of joy and laughter, or jump into a classy pink Cadillac for some voguish photographs. Ever wonder what it’s like to enter an upside-down room?
Well, at the Pink Palace, there are a few upside-down moments in a picnic-themed room that simply cannot stand upright! In a separate room, you will get a chance to pop out of a giant bottle of sparkling wine – Cheers!!!
Some highlights include:
- A Bathtub Scene with a view of Porto – perfect for a fun, over-the-top selfie
- See-saw on Luis I Ponte – playful and vibrant
- Oversized Wine Bottle – play peek a boo and come out a wine bottle
- The Pink Ball Pit – yes, it’s real, and yes, adults are welcome!
Each space is color-coordinated, aesthetically lit, and incredibly fun, especially if you’re visiting with friends or a partner.
Light Education, Heavy Fun
Apart from all the fun themes, Pink Palace Oporto is committed to debunking myths around Rosé Wine and promoting the goodness of this pink drink.
Learn all about the different types of Rosé Wine and take advantage of this opportunity to taste 5 different Rosés and appreciate the fruity notes of this refreshing drink. You’ll come away with a better understanding of how rosé is made — but without feeling like you’re in a classroom.
How Long Does It Take?
Plan to spend 45 minutes to 1 hour inside, depending on how long you linger at each tasting and how many photos you take. There’s no rush, so you can relax and soak it all in.
Is The Pink Palace Wow Porto Just for Wine Lovers?
While wine is the central theme, the experience goes far beyond the glass. The Pink Palace is designed for anyone who enjoys fun, immersive spaces, vibrant visuals, and light-hearted storytelling. Whether you’re a casual sipper, a seasoned sommelier, or even a non-drinker accompanying friends, there’s something enjoyable about the experience.
Here’s why it appeals to more than just wine lovers:
- Instagram-Worthy Fun: The Pink Palace is a visual delight. If you enjoy photography, creative spaces, or just want some great travel photos, this is one of the most photogenic spots in all of Porto.
- Unique Concept & Design: You don’t need to love wine to appreciate the creativity behind the museum. From pink backdrops to giant props and playful details, it’s truly a design-forward space that unexpectedly blends art and wine.
- Family & Group Friendly: While the experience is geared more toward adults, it’s still suitable for families with older kids or teens, especially because of the interactive exhibits and colorful visuals (note: tastings are only for guests 18+).
Quick Photography Tips for an Epic Museum Experience
- Bring a phone or camera with a good low-light setting — some rooms are dimly lit for ambiance
- Wear pink or neutral-toned clothing for cohesive, aesthetic photos
- Don’t be shy! Everyone’s there to take pictures — it’s part of the fun!

Is the Pink Palace Worth It?
If you’re looking for a fun, lighthearted, and photo-friendly experience in Porto (or technically, Gaia), the Pink Palace delivers. It’s not your traditional wine tour — instead, it blends playful, modern design with wine culture in a way that feels fresh and engaging.
The Pink Palace isn’t trying to be a deep dive into wine education — it’s meant to be fun, interactive, and memorable, and it succeeds on all fronts. Whether you’re a first-time visitor to Porto or returning for another trip, it’s one of those experiences that makes you smile, sip, and snap your way through a rosé-tinted adventure.
While the €25 ticket may feel steep for a single museum, the value comes through in the tastings, the well-thought-out installations, and the overall experience.
But if you’re even slightly curious about the other WOW museums, we highly recommend the €44 WOW Day Pass — it gives you full access to all 6 museums and 10% off food, making it a fantastic deal if you plan to spend the day exploring the district.
